In partnership with IIT Madras and a private defense firm, India Coast Guard has deployed AI radar systems along Tamil Nadu’s coast. Capable of detecting small vessels, identifying suspicious behavior, and dispatching real-time alerts, the system helped intercept two unregistered crafts during initial usage. Plans are in motion to scale coverage across India’s 7,500 km coastline by 2027 to strengthen maritime security.
